Dr Chan Hsiang Sui received his surgical training at the Department of General Surgery of the Singapore General Hospital. He also spent a year as a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA. He further trained at the Lahey Clinic’s department of surgery in Burlington Massachusetts, USA, in 1996 where he was appointed as a Chief Resident in the department.
Dr Chan, who is currently practicing as a General surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital Singapore, has a sub-speciality interest in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic surgery), oncology surgery (cancer surgery) and metabolic/bariatric surgery. General surgical procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomies, appendectomies and hernia repairs are routinely performed. He also has a special interest in cancer surgery for the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon, breast and thyroid.
Other conditions he treats include appendicitis, breast lumps, breast cancer, diverticular disease, hemorrhoids (piles), oesophagitis, rectal cancer and thyroid nodules. He also performs colonoscopy, excision of superficial lesions like cysts and moles, gastroscopy and metabolic/bariatric surgery (surgery for weight loss).
Dr Chan was involved in a medical relief mission group, as its general surgeon, to Bali following its bombing tragedy in 2001 as well as to Sri Lanka following the aftermath of the tsunami in December 2004.
