Dr Jimmy Lim is an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon practicing at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK), cornea disease treatment and general ophthalmology.
Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Lim was a senior consultant and Deputy Head of Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, providing quality eye care to both local and foreign patients for over 17 years.
After being awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2011, Dr Lim underwent a clinical fellowship at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in the United States under the tutelege of Professor Douglas Koch, Professor Stephen Pflugfelder, Associate Professor Hamill Bowes and Dr Mitchell Weikert. He also underwent fellowship training with Professor Theo Seiler at the Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery in Zurich, Switzerland.
Dr Lim has a keen interest in the training and education of junior ophthalmologists and in medical research. His research work encompasses topics such as intraocular lens calculations in highly myopic eyes, astigmatic corrections in cataract surgery, post-refractive cataract surgery outcomes, refractive surgery outcomes, visual function assessment, dry eye management and therapeutics of cornea infections. He has since developed a patent for visual function assessment, and his written works have been published in major peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Lim has been invited as a guest speaker to many regional and international conferences where he shares his knowledge and expertise. He has published book chapters and is an examiner for postgraduate medical examinations. His efforts have been recognised overseas when he was awarded the inaugural Baylor College of Medicine Fellow Teaching Award in 2012 in Houston, Texas.
