Dr Lim Yean Teng is a cardiologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His clinical interests include angioplasty, balloon valvuloplasty, coronary artery disease, drug-eluting stenting, hypercholesterolemia and hypertension.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 1983. After completing his training in Internal Medicine, he underwent cardiology training at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and Cardiac Department at the National University Hospital in Singapore. He then spent 18 months at the Division of Cardiovascular Disease, Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA and received further training in the field Interventional and Nuclear Cardiology.
A/Professor Lim subsequently underwent further training in Percutaneous Mitral Valvulopasty (In Kaoshiong, Taiwan) and Peripheral Intervention Fellowship at the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield, Illinois in the United States. He is regularly invited as speaker, chairperson and moderator for major interventional meetings in the Asia-Pacific region, and has served as international faculty to major interventional meetings in Europe and the United States of America. A/Professor Lim is recognised as a key opinion leader in the field in Singapore and the region. Before joining private practice, A/Professor Lim served in public hospitals for 24 years. Apart from being a Senior Consultant Cardiologist, he was an University Academic for 17 years, and has served as Chairman of the Medical Board and Chief of the Cardiac Department at the National University Hospital and as Senior Management and Co-Director of the Heart Institute at the National Healthcare Group. He was Chairman of the National Committee for Cardiac Care and Chairman of the Specialists' Training Committee for Cardiology at the Ministry of Health in Singapore.
A/Professor Lim continues to serve on a number of important national committees. He was awarded fellowships by local, regional and international societies and colleges, which include the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, Asia-Pacific College of Cardiology, ASEAN College of Cardiology and Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology.
