Experience
Dr Angela Pang is a medical oncologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
Her subspecialty interests are in gastrointestinal cancer, hepatobiliary cancers, and bone and soft tissue sarcomas. She also has a special interest in geriatric oncology, which focuses on treating elderly patients with cancer.
She was previously a consultant with the department of haematology-oncology at the National University Cancer Institute of Singapore (NCIS) and the National University Hospital (NUH), and a visiting consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. She was also the medical oncology lead of the musculoskeletal (sarcoma) oncology tumour group.
She completed her advanced specialty training in medical oncology in 2013 and subsequently underwent a research fellowship in sarcoma at The Tisch Cancer Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital, USA. With a specific interest in the optimisation of care in elderly cancer patients, Dr Pang further pursued a graduate diploma in geriatric medicine at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. She also trained in geriatric oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, USA.
In 2019, she was awarded the Jurong Health Fund grant to set up the geriatric oncology longitudinal end-to-end (GOLDEN) programme at NUH and NTFGH. During the COVID pandemic, the GOLDEN team led by Dr Pang was able to provide care for more than 800 elderly cancer patients using telemedicine. She was also involved in multiple international multi-centre clinical trials for novel therapies in cancer treatment such as targeted therapies, antibody-drug conjugates and immunotherapy. She has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Dr Pang was previously appointed assistant professor and undergraduate education director in medical oncology at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. She was also a core faculty member of the medical oncology senior residency at NUH. She had received multiple teaching awards in NUH for her teaching efforts.
She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, International Society of Geriatric Oncology and Connective Tissue Oncology Society. Dr Pang's research work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of American Society of Medicine Oncology, Nature Communications, Clinical Cancer Research and Journal of Geriatric Oncology.
