Dr Tang Siau-Wei is a surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
Her specialty is in breast surgery.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Tang was a consultant surgeon at the National University Hospital (NUH), caring for patients with benign and malignant breast conditions.
She obtained her medical degree from the University of Nottingham, UK, and did her surgical training in Trent Deanery, UK. She subsequently moved to Singapore and completed her advanced specialist training in general surgery at NUH and obtained the fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in general surgery. She has travelled to South Korea and Japan to learn advanced surgical techniques on breast conservation and partial reconstruction.
Dr Tang is also involved in the teaching and training of medical students and junior doctors, and is an adjunct assistant professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Previously, she was the deputy undergraduate medical director at NUS and an associate programme director for the National Postgraduate Year 1 programme at NUH. She has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
With a clinical and research interest in the subspecialty of breast surgery, treating breast cancer and the quality of life in breast cancer survivors, Dr Tang has published various clinical and research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. In 2015, she obtained a research grant by the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore seed funding programme to evaluate the quality of life and body image in women with breast cancer in Singapore. She also has a research interest in breast cancer in older women, and how best to optimise their breast cancer treatment whilst taking into consideration their other chronic illnesses.
Dr Tang is a recipient of the NUS Medicine Fortitude Award and several Long Service Awards at NUH.
