Dr Tham Siew Nee is a senior dermatologist with more than 30 years’ experience practising dermatology. She graduated from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, completed post-graduate training in Internal medicine and obtained her MMed (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore. This was followed by advanced training in dermatology at the Middle Road Hospital and National Skin Centre. She received the HMDP scholarship and trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School under the famous late Dr Thomas B Fitzpatrick. Prior to starting her own private practice, she served as deputy medical director at the National Skin Centre. She is an active member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore and was its past president from 1992 to 1996.
Dr Tham has a wide range of experience in treating skin conditions in both adults and children. Management of psoriasis, eczema, pigment disorders and the use of light treatment for various skin conditions are her special interest. She is trained in dermatosurgery, laser surgery, chemical peeling and other aesthetic procedures. She was instrumental in establishing the phototherapy department at the National Skin Centre. She has featured as a speaker in both local and international dermatology meetings and held workshops in phototherapy in Malaysia and the Philippines. Dr Tham is also actively involved in laser training, conducts chemical peel workshops and participates in a wide range of dermatology activities.
Currently, Dr Tham is a visiting consultant to the Dermatology Department at the Singapore General Hospital and a board member of the Chapter of Dermatology, College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr Tham believes in giving back to society by helping the under-privileged. She is actively involved in humanitarian work, contributing her time and expertise in medical missions to Indonesia, Nepal, Africa and India.
