Dr Thwin Maung Aye is a gastroenterologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. His clinical interests are in hepatology, liver disease and liver transplant.
Dr Thwin attained his medical degree from the University of Medicine 1, Yangon, Myanmar. He pursued specialist training in Yangon, Myanmar and then in London King’s College Hospital and Oxford University Hospitals in the United Kingdom.
Dr Thwin received advanced specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the National University Hospital in Singapore and was accredited by the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Singapore Medical Council in 2010. He completed advanced fellowship training in transplant hepatology at the Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital (London) in 2013.
Dr Thwin obtained the membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2006. He was later awarded the specialty certificate in gastroenterology from the Federation of Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom and the British Society of Gastroenterology in 2011. He became Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2015.
Dr Thwin has been a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist in the National University Hospital since 2013, looking after patients with general gastroenterology diseases, patients with end stage liver disease from various aetiologies and liver transplant recipients. He was an assistant professor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and extensively involved in the clinical teaching of medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
