Dr Marcus Wong is a senior consultant plastic surgeon practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interests include double eyelid surgery, breast augmentation and reconstruction, facelift and body contouring.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Wong served for more than 21 years in public service, and was founding head of the Plastic Surgery Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
He was the programme director for the National Healthcare Group's (NHG) plastic surgery residency programme, and was the residency advisory committee member for the national plastic surgery residency training programme. Dr Wong was a member of the Singapore Medical Council's working committee for the Guidelines of Aesthetic Practices for Doctors (2016 Edition), and has completed several overseas fellowships in aesthetic and reconstructive microsurgery in places such as Taiwan, People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Brazil, and the United States of America.
He was chairman of the Chapter of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons from 2011-2015, and has been a council member of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2011. He was also an assistant professor at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School Of Medicine, and clinical teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
In addition to publishing extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, he also reviews for the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global journal.
Dr Wong has also been invited to present at international medical conferences and to conduct instructional workshops. He has performed live surgeries at international meetings. He has also received multiple research grants from NHG, NTU, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and the National Medical Research Council, as well as industry grants from companies like Novus Scientific and Osteopore.
He was nominated for the Young Surgeons Award from the Asian Surgical Association in 2003, was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program Scholarship in 2007, and the Gold Medal from the Academy of Medicine in 2008 for outstanding performance in the national plastic surgery board examination.
Dr Wong has also volunteered in numerous medical missions to countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and China under organisations like the Singapore Armed Forces, Tzu Chi Foundation, Song Heng Association, Singapore International Foundation and Rotary International.
