Dr Nicholas Yeoh is an orthopaedic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His expertise is in hip and knee reconstruction and replacement surgeries. He also has experience in managing orthopaedic trauma, including surgeries for complex fractures.
He was a consultant in hip and knee surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and is currently a visiting consultant there.
Dr Yeoh graduated from the University of Edinburgh, UK and did his master’s degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Subsequently, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Award to pursue his special interest in hip and knee reconstruction surgery at the Mater Hospital and North Sydney Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Centre, Australia. During his time there, he received training in joint replacement surgeries of the hip and knee, revision hip and knee surgery as well as various arthroscopic joint preservation procedures.
He was the earliest to perform total hip replacement via the direct anterior approach at KTPH and has since performed many of the direct anterior approach total hip replacement surgeries there. He also co-developed the enhanced recovery after surgery protocols for total knee replacements at KTPH. He is a firm believer of technology and actively incorporates modern surgical techniques such as computer navigation, robotics and specialised knee replacement implants designed to replicate natural movement of the native knee.
Aside from clinical work, he was appointed clinical lecturer at NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He was also the associate programme director and worked closely in the performance review committee for junior doctors.
Dr Yeoh has published numerous papers in the peer-review journals. He has been invited to share his research and experience in knee and hip replacements in local and international conferences.
