Dr Yip Hwee Seng is a respiratory physician and intensivist at Parkway East Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, and Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
His areas of interest include asthma, community acquired pneumonia, endobronchial ultrasound, intensive care, and point-of-care ultrasound.
He treats conditions such as acute bronchitis, asthma, chronic cough, lung cancer, pneumonia, and tuberculosis.
Prior to private practice, Dr Yip was a senior consultant respiratory physician and intensivist with the division of respiratory and critical care medicine at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore.
Dr Yip also served as the clinical director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit in NUH from 2013 – 2019. During his tenure, he oversaw a wide range of quality improvement projects at the hospital.
In 2015, Dr Yip was awarded the Academic Medicine Development Award (Team), where he led his team to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore to learn from world leaders in early mobilisation of patients in the intensive care unit. He implemented a similar early mobilisation project in NUH, which led to improved patient functional outcomes after critical illness.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2001, completed his specialist training in respiratory medicine in 2010, and further completed his training in intensive care medicine in 2012.
Dr Yip has been involved in educating medical students of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and was also a core faculty member of the National University Health System Internal Medicine Residency Program.
