Dr Angeline Yong is a dermatologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
She subspecialises in dermatological and laser surgery, cosmetic dermatology, Mohs Micrographic Surgery, skin cancers, hair transplant surgery, and hair and nail disorders.
Dr Yong has more than 15 years of medical experience, and was a former consultant dermatologist at the National Skin Centre (NSC) in Singapore. At NSC, she was also the founding consultant and lead for the Hair Transplantation Service.
She graduated with two gold medals from the National University of Singapore, and was part of the inaugural batch selected to enter the Seamless Dermatological Residency Programme. She was awarded her Certificate of Specialist Accreditation in Dermatology by the Ministry of Health after completing her specialist training as a dermatologist.
Dr Yong pursued a year-long fellowship at St John’s Institute of Dermatology in London, where she was trained in Mohs Microscopic Surgery and cutaneous reconstruction, alongside other dermatologic surgery and laser procedures. She later pursued a fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she underwent further training in hair transplantation, cosmetic and procedural dermatology. Dr Yong also later completed a third fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, cosmetic and procedural dermatology, at the Seoul National University Hospital and Yonsei Severence Hospital in South Korea.
She previously served on NSC’s medical education committee, and the committee for NUS’ graduate diploma in family practice dermatology. She is also a former clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Yong has professional memberships in several international and local dermatology societies such as the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society of Mohs Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatological Surgery, British Society of Dermatological Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and Dermatological Society Singapore.
She is also a member of both the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) and the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the UK.
Dr Yong has published over 15 papers and 4 book chapters, and has been invited as a speaker at both local and overseas dermatology conferences. Her areas of research include anti-ageing medicine, skin cancer management and imaging, hair disorders, dermatological surgery and lasers.
As a testament to her dedication to patient care, Dr Yong was awarded the Healthcare Humanity Award by the late President S R Nathan in 2011 for her overseas humanitarian work, which includes helping flood victims in Bangladesh and post-civil war refugees in Sri Lanka. She also received the National Skin Centre Service Champion Award (Gold) in 2012.
Dr Yong is experienced in top-to-toe skin care and comprehensive cosmetic and surgical dermatology. She believes in focusing less on traditional beauty standards and more on using natural-looking enhancements on her patients to help them stay true to their individual and unique beauty.
