What is haematology?
Haematology is a field of medicine that diagnoses, treats and manages disorders of the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system. These disorders include haematologic malignancies, which refer to cancers that affect the blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes.
Haematologists work closely with doctors to interpret and monitor blood results to make diagnoses, identify medical conditions and assess the effect of treatment.
The haematology specialty also supports blood transfusion services, as well as immunotherapy and cell therapy, to treat cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.
Our approach
Located at Gleneagles Hospital, Parkway Cancer Centre also runs the Children’s Haematology & Cancer Centre. The centre is dedicated to integrated, patient-centred care.
